ln the spirit of Ramadan, a RM25,000 donation was presented to the Sarawak Orphans Welfare Board (Peryatim) during a special iftar (breaking of fast) event at Hikmah Exchange tonight.
The presentation ceremony was witnessed by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
The event was hosted by the Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) in collaboration with the Centre for Technical Excellence Sarawak (Centexs) and the Development Bank of Sarawak Berhad (DBOS).
ln a joint statement, the organisers stated that the donation reflects their commitment to supporting the less fortunate, ensuring that no one is left behind during the holy month of Ramadan.
The orphans in attendance were also treated to a sumptuous iftar banquet and moreh (post-Tarawih meal), symbolising warmth, generosity, and unity within the community.
"With over 400 guests in attendance, the gathering also served as a platform to strengthen bonds among stakeholders, corporate leadership, employees, and the wider community," said the statement.
The event concluded with congregational evening prayers, including Maghrib, lsyak, and Tarawih.
Also present at the event were Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, SDEC chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani, SDEC CEO Dato Sudarnoto Osman, Centexs CEO Dato Syeed Mohd Hussien Wan Abd Rahman and DBOS CEO Datu Laura Lee Ngien Hion.
